Miami Beach Building Department Normandy Ribbon CuttingMiami Beach residents, business owners, and community leaders celebrated the Building Department’s new North Beach office with a ceremonial ribbon cutting on Monday July 11 on Normandy Drive.North Beach residents and business owners now have their own local branch office where they can ask questions and take care of building needs without having to travel to South Beach.“This office is a new concept in the City of Miami Beach in an effort to become more customer friendly and reduce vehicles on City roads, by bringing the services closer to residents and property owners in the North Beach area,” Building Department Director Fernandez said. The idea for a local office stemmed from a community meeting a couple of years ago. It was the community’s demand that helped initiate and eventually complete the 6-month project. As for the ribbon cutting ceremony, residents, elected officials, and City staff members congregated to officially open the Miami Beach’s latest addition. The Ribbon Cutting Ceremony featured a welcome by Leonor Hernandez, Office Manager of the North Beach Building Department Office who then introduced Mayor Philip Levine for a brief speech. Mayor Levine then introduced Fernandez, who briefly addressed the attendees as well. For Fernandez, it was a pleasure to see the different members of the community feel excited about the new office.Miami Beach Building Department Normandy“The most memorable part of the Ribbon Cutting Ceremony was to see and feel the enthusiasm of the residents and business owners welcoming the opening of the new office,” Fernandez said.President of the Normandy Sud HOA and Chair of The North Beach Master Plan Steering Committee Margueritte Ramos feels it will make a huge difference having an administrative office. She hopes this could be the beginning of a new City Hall.“Everyone was so happy,” Ramos said. “It was sweltering in the afternoon, and I would say about 200 people showed up.”Because this is a local office, business owners can expect great customer service with a friendly approach. Fernandez believes it is a benefit to the North Beach area.“The main function of the office is to service the North Beach community with all business processes of the building department department functions which include permitting and building violations," Fernandez said. “As with all governmental offices, our doors are always open to assist any resident with any questions that they may have and direct them to the appropriate city department.”PARKINGAccording to Fernandez, there is parking surrounding the North Beach Building Office. There is street parking, City Parking P88 behind the location as well as other public city parking lots in the area. The North Beach Trolley stops across the street from the location as well as several Miami-Dade Buses. As the leading experts in North Beach real estate, property management, and consulting, contact us for more information at 305.403.8686 or info@urbanresource.com
